About Bill Buratto

bill-burattoBill Buratto is President/CEO of Buratto & Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in economic development, government and community relations, public policy and nonprofit management.  He teams up with Vision Economics for projects involving municipal government economic development projects.

Bill has more than 32 years of experience in management, business development, marketing and public policy. He has held executive positions in economic development, healthcare, higher education and social services.

Bill served for 14 years as President/CEO of the Ventura County Economic Development Association, a 65 year old county wide nonprofit economic development organization.  During that time he was responsible for county wide economic development initiatives that included the creation of the TRIAD: The Consortium for National Defense, Security and Disaster Preparedness, The Green Coast Innovation Zone, the iDEA iHub and the County application to the FAA to be an unmanned systems test site. He also served as a board member for Housing Opportunities Made Easier, which co-hosts an annual housing conference in Ventura County.

He is a founding member of the Southern California Unmanned Systems Alliance (SC-USA) and was appointed to the state’s Aerospace Advisory Council by Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the Aerospace States Association California Chapter.

Bill served as executive director for the Ventura County BRAC 2005 Ventura County Task Force, working to keep Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) off the 2005 list of base closures and to keep jobs from leaving the region. He remains active in promoting NBVC and advocating on behalf of the defense and aerospace industry in Ventura County. He also serves as a member of a group of community leaders that advise the Governor’s Military Council.

Bill routinely works with entrepreneurs and start-up companies looking to locate in Ventura County, and through Vision Economics, elsewhere in Southern California He is also a founding member of the iDEA iHub, which seeks to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship in the defense, energy and aerospace industries in Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern, Orange and San Diego Counties.

He received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Illinois and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
